i-Air Touch smart glasses volley touch realize virtual screen interaction

Electronic enthusiasts in October "hot touch technology special issue " hot download, how can you lack!

ITRI has developed an i-Air Touch (iAT) smart glasses, which at first glance looks a bit like a head-mounted 3D View-Master photo viewer, but this breakthrough with Air Touch volley touch technology Sexual intelligence systems can track gestures, so that touch can initiate user interaction with the 3D visual head-mounted display.

The i-Air Touch head-mounted display provides a 3D virtual image about 30 cm (12 inches) in front of the user by providing different images for the user's eyes. The i-Air Touch also incorporates a camera mounted on the glasses, which can track the user's gestures and make it interact with the virtual display through touch, which is technically superior to Google Glass.

ITRI claims that its i-Air Touch is the first transparent head-mounted display that allows users to interact with virtual images at will by touch. The user only needs to use the same gestures as on the normal touch screen, such as waving the page, zooming in and out with two fingers, and tapping on the virtual keyboard to select input, etc., and only those who wear this smart glasses can see To. Because the glasses are transparent, the user can still walk, navigate, and interact with people and things around him freely after wearing them.

The camera lens installed above the glasses adopts the industrial research institute's own DDDR camera to track gestures with millimeter-level accuracy. Users can interact with the virtual display image suspended in mid-air through touch. Because this DDR camera uses phase encoding (achieving distance) and color encoding (to confirm the position of the fingertip), it can only sense touch input when the user's fingertip enters the 28-32 cm range in front of the glasses.

When the user's fingertip leaves this range, the camera will also shut down the operation of identifying the electronic device, thereby saving battery power. Once the DDR camera detects touch input, it sends a signal to the main application processor to confirm the user's finger movement, allowing the user to interact with the virtual screen.

i-Air Touch volley touch technology adopts modular construction, so that its three main components-transparent glasses display, 3D DDDR camera and Air Touch volley touch interactive software-can be separately integrated with other wearable systems. The Industrial Research Institute claims that the R & D team is currently working on shrinking the camera module so that it can be integrated into the mounting ears of smart glasses, thereby improving the appearance of i-Air Touch glasses that currently appear bulkier. All relevant technologies of i-Air Touch are from the Industrial Technology Research Institute and are currently available for licensing to electronic OEMs.

This i-Air Touch head-mounted display will receive the 2013 R & D 100 Award in November.
