China's home appliance giant Midea Group has officially acquired the energy-saving lamp company Guiya Lighting Co., Ltd., and listed the new lighting business as an important pillar industry for the next five years.

Midea Group actively explored the field of energy-saving lighting. In 2008, it established the US Lighting Project Department, which is part of the Microwave Business Unit. Zhang Wuli is the general manager of the business unit.

In December 2009, Midea established its wholly-owned subsidiary, Guangdong Midea Lighting Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd., which mainly engaged in lighting, home lighting, commercial lighting, office lighting, outdoor lighting, LED, switch socket, power converter, low voltage electrical lighting, etc. product.

After officially entering the lighting industry, Midea Lighting has established outlets in markets across the country. In January 2010, it entered the Sichuan and Yunnan markets. On May 1, its brand flagship store in Shanghai officially opened.

Subsequently, relying on the strong channel network of Midea Group, Midea Lighting launched more than 300 outdoor promotions and more than 1,100 indoor promotions at more than 1,400 outlets nationwide.

The May 1st promotion in 2010 was the first large-scale appearance of Midea's lighting industry after entering the lighting industry. Afterwards, it was unveiled at the 15th Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition with a high-profile appearance of 240 square meters in June.
