Joint experiment with Arrow Electronics and Fionia Lighting to prove that LED application is energy efficient in gardening

Arrow's Danish distribution partner, Arrow, recently completed a pilot program with Fionia Lighting, which confirms the enormous energy savings potential of LEDs in horticultural applications.

In the experiment, Fionia Lighting developed a greenhouse-specific luminaire system with approximately 50,000 Golden DRAGON Plus LEDs. In a cultivation area with a radius of several hundred meters, the system successfully reduced energy consumption by 40%.

According to the poets of Fionia Lighting, the flowers grown under LED lighting are the same speed as the flowers grown under traditional lighting, but they show more flower buds, which can make the price higher. At the same time, LED lighting reduces the growth regulator. Use of other chemicals.

Red and blue are especially important for plant growth. The luminescence curve of the new red LED is very consistent with the spectral sensitivity of chlorophyll. Informed sources of OSRAM Opto Semiconductors revealed that the luminous curve of the light source is compared with the spectral sensitivity curve of the plant (according to DIN 5031-10), and the system efficacy of the LED is 60% higher than the currently used high pressure nano lamp. In this program, the combination of deep red LED and blue LED has an amazing energy saving effect.

Currently, Golden DRAGON Plus and OSLON SSL LEDs rank first in the market in the deep red range (wavelength 660 nm) with an efficiency of 37%, with a typical power of 330 mW at 400 mA operating current. The efficiency is exceptionally high. The high-power chips of these two LEDs are based on OSRAM's thin-film technology and, with a lifetime of up to 100,000 hours, they can be operated for years without maintenance. In the pilot project, a thousand square meters of flower buds successfully saved 40%.
