Talking about the partial transformation of the studio lighting system

   Over the years, many medium-sized studios have been built nationwide, and most of them are facing more or less renovation problems due to the aging facilities and future HD production requirements. Demolition and reconstruction cannot be achieved due to funding, construction period or other reasons, and some facilities can continue to be used. Therefore, local transformation has become a more realistic choice.

In the studio, visual, audio, lighting and other systems often do some local transformation in order to solve some practical problems. Let's take the 400-square-meter studio of Shaanxi Radio and TV Station as an example to discuss some aspects of the studio lighting system to explore the jade and ask for advice.

First, the studio overview

The 400 square meter studio of Shaanxi Radio and Television Station is located in Section B of Shaanxi Radio and Television Center. The equipment layer of the studio is laid with a permeable steel mesh. The hanging system uses a 6-meter multi-function horizontal boom with 38 booms, and each JJD 2/3-I mechanical spotlight or GTMD four is hung on each boom. Connected to the skylight, as shown in Figure 1.

The studio has been used for many years. The biggest problem at present is that the movements of the lamps and the booms are sometimes uncontrollable. Every time the lighting adjustments are climbed up and down, the lines are often inspected and repaired. Nowadays, the programs that are recorded in the studio are more and more complicated, and the original lighting equipment can no longer meet the requirements of on-time recording.

Second, the analysis of the local transformation of the studio

1. The permeable stencil of the equipment layer is still quite strong and there is no need to replace it.

2. The suspension system has undergone comprehensive maintenance and basically has no problems. Some lift motors have oil leakage, but there is no problem in safe use. The cloth light table can be basically used, and it can be changed temporarily.

3. The silicon cabinet is a digital silicon cabinet that was changed three years ago and there is no need to replace it. The terminal cabinet is partially damaged and can be used after maintenance and emergency treatment.

4. Part of the luminaire is a 6-action 2kw spotlight, and a part is a quad-beam. Some of the spotlights and power cords in the spotlight are burned out, some action motors or mechanical parts are damaged, and some action signal control lines are damaged. Because the lamp manufacturer has been discontinued, there are no accessories and it is difficult to carry out maintenance. The skylights are basically completely damaged, there is no movement, and the skylights are rarely used since the studio has installed a starry sky curtain.

5. Various cables and wires on the equipment layer have not been found to have burnt skin, and the signal control line is basically available.

6. The lighting console is currently in good condition and it is easy to change.

To remodel the studio, it is best to replace the hanging system, the lighting control system, the old cables and signal lines of the lighting and equipment layers. However, it is imperative to replace the lamps that cannot be repaired or used very hard to ensure that the lighting and dimming are normal.

Third, the specific implementation of local transformation

Recently, the partial transformation was to replace the original part of the spotlight and all the skylights with 40 17-channel computerized staining lights, 12 29-channel computer pattern lights and 20 7-channel LED PAR lights. Computer staining lamps are mainly used for backlighting and bokeh lighting, and computer pattern lights and LED PAR lamps are mainly used for effect light. Re-adjust the original spotlights and eliminate the damaged and unused lamps.

The newly replaced computer light bulb is only 1200W, but the gas discharge bulb is lit with a large current. In addition to other power-consuming components in the lamp, the power consumption of the entire computer lamp is actually calculated according to 2000 watts. The original lamp power cords are designed according to 2000W, so the circuit is basically unchanged. There is a straight-through socket on each multi-function horizontal boom. The power plug of the computer light is replaced by a plug that matches it to take power. Some of the straight-through sockets on the boom are not enough. The original silicon-controlled socket is also used, but the light path is set to pass through on the dimming table, and the corresponding silicon box on the silicon cabinet is also turned into a straight-through. The signal lines of the computer lights need to be routed. In order to simplify the wiring and save the wires, we connect the signal lines of the computer lights of the two adjacent booms together.

The standby signal line is connected to the ground. When recording the variety show, you can place some computer lights, beam lights or LED PAR on the stage floor to enhance the stage lighting effect. The original lighting console was ETC ELEMENT. For ease of use, an Avolites Pearl 2010 was added to control the newly changed computer lights and LED lights. The specific connection line is shown in Figure 3. Among them, 12 LED PAR lights are connected from the console C port to the first page 31 to 42 optical path, and the other 12 slave console D port is connected to the first page 43 to 54 optical path, which is convenient to push Rod control; 12 pattern lights are connected from the console A port to the first page 1 to 12 optical path; the console C port 20 dyeing lights are connected to the second page 101 to 120 optical path, console D The 20 staining lamps of the mouth are connected to the light path from No. 131 to No. 150 on page 2.

The modified lamp configuration is relatively diverse, as shown in Figure 4.

Because the face light is mainly using spotlights, and the studio is still standard-definition studio, the color temperature of the shooting continues to use 3200k. When the computer light is used as a face light, adjust the color temperature to 3200k.

Fourth, the evaluation and analysis of the transformation results

This time, the partial transformation of the 400 square meter studio basically achieved the expected results. After eliminating the unused lamps, the existing spotlights have smoother horizontal, pitch, and focus adjustments, and the lighting and lighting time are greatly shortened. In the past, using spotlights to bokeh light, color changing paper is a big problem. It is a common practice to climb a ladder. Now all the scenes of the program are played with computer lights. Because the computer lights can be stored and recalled, it saves a lot of manpower and time, and ensures the consistency of the lighting effects. After the renovation, the lighting design level has improved, and the screen effect of the program has also increased a lot, as shown in Figure 5.

After a period of use, we also found some problems, summarized as follows:

1. The computer light that was placed in the position where the skylight was originally placed was originally intended to be used for character backlighting, but because it is closer to the stage, some computer lights are already located directly above the character, and it is not ideal for backlighting. Some computer lights should be hung on the boom that is closer to the studio wall.

2. The signal lines of the computer lights of the two adjacent booms are connected together, which simplifies the wiring and saves some wires. However, because the two booms are to be up and down at the same time, it brings some difficulties to the later maintenance. In addition, people who are unfamiliar with the situation will break the signal line if they are not operating properly.

3. There are fewer pattern lights and insufficient brightness, which makes the stage lighting almost no visual effect. The overall effect is similar to that of the conventional tungsten halogen spotlight. Medium-sized studios often record some variety shows, and even static programs such as interviews and themes sometimes require some dazzling lighting effects. Therefore, high-efficiency or higher-power pattern lights should be used to increase the number of pattern lights, and some beam moving head lights should be added to enhance the stage lighting effect.

4. Although some computer lights have been added, the current lighting equipment is still relatively simple. In order to enhance the picture effect, the smoke machine, fog machine, snow machine stage effect equipment should also be properly equipped.

These problems have to be further modified and resolved.

V. Conclusion

On the one hand, the partial transformation of the medium-sized studio should be combined with the loss of lighting equipment. On the one hand, it should also consider the scope of use of the studio and the actual situation of funds and construction period. TV technology is changing with each passing day, and there is no need to pursue a transformation in one step. Only by comprehensively considering the actual situation and carrying out appropriate partial transformation can the maximum benefit be achieved.

Lead-acid is the oldest rechargeable Battery in existence. Invented by the French physician Gaston Planté in 1859, lead-acid was the first rechargeable battery for commercial use. 150 years later, we still have no cost-effective alternatives for cars, wheelchairs, scooters, golf carts and UPS systems. The lead-acid battery has retained a market share in applications where newer battery chemistries would either be too expensive.
Lead-acid does not lend itself to fast charging. Typical charge time is 8 to 16 hours. A periodic fully saturated charge is essential to prevent sulfation and the battery must always be stored in a charged state. Leaving the battery in a discharged condition causes sulfation and a recharge may not be possible.
 Finding the ideal charge voltage limit is critical. A high voltage (above 2.40V/cell) produces good battery performance but shortens the service life due to grid corrosion on the positive plate. A low voltage limit is subject to sulfation on the negative plate. Leaving the battery on float charge for a prolonged time does not cause damage.
